A Life Well-Lived and Still Living: Celebrating Mrs. Ursula Ekpo
It was a joy to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ursula Ekpo on 27th December 2024, as her son Ubong and his siblings hosted a grand birthday party in her honor. Mrs. Ekpo, born on December 22, 1944, has lived a remarkable life, filled with faith, family, and a dedication to education.
Born the fourth of eleven children to Chief Arthur Udotim and Magdalene Arthur, Mrs. Ekpo's early life was steeped in tradition. Her father, a respected village chief and clan head, instilled in her the importance of education. This led her to pursue a career in teaching, a profession she clearly excelled at.
From her early days as a "C" teacher at Ikot Uneke to her eventual retirement from the University Staff School, Mrs. Ekpo dedicated her life to nurturing young minds. Her commitment to education was unwavering, even declining promotions that would have taken her away from the classroom.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mrs. Ekpo cherished her family deeply. Her marriage to Engineer A. U. Ekpo, a lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, blessed her with five children, all of whom graduated from the university.
Mrs. Ekpo's life is a testament to the power of faith, family, and a strong work ethic. As she continues to enjoy her retirement, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren, we are reminded of the enduring impact of a life well-lived and still Living.

"My Personal devotion to Mrs. Ekpo comes a very long way, she was my primary school teacher and she contributed to my life in many ways, such as volunteering/participating in extra lessons to teach me and some other students, (cos I was radical when i was growing up) but she patiently instilled a love of learning in me...that left a lasting impact in my life.
Mrs. Ekpo's life exemplifies the importance of education, the strength of family, and the power of perseverance. I Started playing the keyboard at the age of five when she was my teacher, "you can do it" were her words that inspired me to pursue my dreams and made a positive impact in my life.
"Ochie Dike! You poured your heart and soul into teaching, nurturing young minds with unwavering patience and enthusiasm...Thank you for your continued support. I wouldn't be here without you.
With love and music, Dr. Zed"
